This project reminds me of when I was in the Philippines. We volunteered to maintain the cleanliness and tree planting of a particular area in my home town. In fact, when I went home three years ago, I went to visit the area where I used to help clean and I saw the trees that I personally planted are getting bigger and taller. I love what we have done!
Speaking of gardening and beautification, have you heard of Project Orange Thumb? This project is a new initiative that encourages neighborhood beautification within the U.S. and Canada. The Project Orange Thumb will award 20 lucky groups of individuals in the U.S., and Canada with grants to help beautify their neighborhood. Each group of individuals will receive up to $1,500 in Fiskars gardening tools and up to $800 in gardening-related materials (green goods). Also, 4 grants will be handed out in Australia and they will be awarded $1,000 in gardening tools and up to $1,000 in gardening materials. This is such a wonderful project! It gets you involved in the community and at the same time you are helping to beautify your neighborhood! What's great about it is, if you are you and your group will be chosen, you will not only beautify your neighborhood but you will receive fantastic prizes. Wow! I'm sure there are a lot of group of individuals out there who will wants to join and participate. So, share your passion of gardening with your community and neighbors and reap some of the great benefits at the same time.
